Re: Expansion of the SoHo-Cast-Iron Historic District

Dear Chairman Tierney,

I wish to express my thanks to you and the Commission staff for moving forward with the expansion of the SoHo-Cast-Iron Historic District, proposed by the Metropolitan Chapter of the Victorian Society in America in 2006. I fully support the boundaries calendared by the Commission on June 23, 2009, and urge that you designate the expanded district without delay.

The proposed expansion includes many cast-iron-fronted and masonry buildings that share the wonderful characteristics of those buildings inluded in the 1973 designation of the SoHo-Cast Iron Historic District. These buildings have been excluded from landmark protection for too long and merit designation as part of an expanded district.
